A Little Slower

This week went a bit more slowly than last, as far as getting things done. It’s been a bad one for headaches, and also the second week of the month, which is the busiest in terms of bookkeeping work for my husband’s business. Although, when I look over what I did get done, it’s more than I thought.

I was hoping to finish decluttering in the kitchen; that didn’t happen. I did get three more cabinets done, leaving two to go, plus the drawers. I also did the freezer last Sunday. So that’s something. It actually wasn’t bad, except one of the door drawers’ bottom was covered in a greenish-purple Popsicle sludge LOL. Didn’t even know that was there–it’s been a long time since we’ve bought Popsicles! But it’s done now, and great to be able to find stuff!

Isis had more play dates, too, but no new photos.

Huntress12What I read this week: Huntress of the Star Empire, Episode 12 by Athena Grayson. Wow, what a fantastic finale to the series! Full of surprises, and some I’d guessed, though there were also plenty of questions still unanswered. This has been such an awesome read, one of the best I’ve read this year (if not longer). I’m honored to have been the cover designer for these. I’m so looking forward to the next season!

ROW80Logo175ROW80 Update: This is the last full week of Round 2. I did get that third book formatted, but not until today, so it doesn’t quite count. And I did not get any of the mailing list stuff done. But still progress, so that’s good. This week, I want to finish the website and mailing list stuff. When it’s ready, I’ll announce it here first!

What about you–ever have one of those weeks where things just don’t get done? Or one where you feel like you didn’t accomplish much, but when you really think about it, you did? Read anything good lately? Please share in the comments–I’d love to hear from you!

  1. So sorry about the headaches, Jennette. I hope they go away. Sounds to me like you got a lot done, and when I read that you got that third book formatted, I got excited. Is that for the Saturn Society series? I’m hoping!

I’ve been busy unpacking since we moved June 1st. We’ve been living in chaos, but each day gets better and I find more of my personal stuff and household stuff. I’m giving lots of things to the thrift store. Didn’t have time to go through everything before the move. I have one more week off before I start babysitting the grands again, so I need to put in some 12-hour days (or longer) to finish unpacking and organize everything. It’s all so overwhelming, but our new place is awesome, and the dogs love the new backyard. Can’t wait to plant a little garden! Have a wonderful week.

  2. I feel like it’s been a month where I haven’t gotten things done. At least, writing-wise. Hope to turn that around this week. Calendar is empty (thank goodness), so I can’t use that as an excuse. Haha!

  3. Hope you’re feeling better! And yes, I have those weeks. I’m a list maker and love checking stuff off of them. But I’d also like to be okay with cutting myself slack. A work in progress.:)
    Happy new week!

  4. Well the green-purple sludge removal is what most likely gave you the headache. Now that that mess is gone you should be good to go. (Hey I can hope for you can’t I?)

Keep on trucking Jennette. There will always be something to do so don’t try to do it all in one day. Life’s too short to worry about that kind of thing. I appreciate the “to do” list more than most, but sometimes that things I write on mine are just suggestions. I fear the day I have no list.

    Have a great week.

  5. Lynn, the book I formatted is actually one of the existing ones, Time’s Fugitive. The new one just came back from the first beta reader; I’m waiting on the others. But soon! And thanks for asking. Good luck with the post-move stuff!

Stacy, there’s nothing like an empty calendar, huh? That happens too seldomly. But you had fun on your busy weekends!

Coleen, thanks! I cut myself slack way too easily.

LOL Patricia, one can only hope it was just the green sludge! And +1 for to-do list=suggestions.

  6. During summer it feels like every week is one of those weeks. Though, I get lots done. I just am very hard on myself (and I need to stop that). You got a lot done and you should be proud. 🙂

  7. Oh, having been involved in theatre project I am well aware of the weeks of tech rehearsals and shows. This summer I have taken off from theatre to work on the writing, which is MUCHO liberating. 🙂

Currently I am reading The Golden Compass and Wicked. Love the former, the latter is kinda weird. Not sure how I feel about it yet.

  8. Not sure if my comment went through…

When doing a show it’s all about tech rehearsals and costumes and shows and microphone, etc. Many a week happen and there was little to no progress. I can understand and sympathize. This summer is a vacation from theatre and it is so far liberating. 🙂

Currently reading The Golden Compass and Wicked. Wicked is the challenge, as it is not what I was expecting.

  9. Gloria, many of us are too hard on ourselves! I should stop it too. ::)

Cindy, taking time off to focus on the writing would be wonderful! I’ve heard the Golden Compass is good. Have a great summer!

    Pat, thanks so much!

  10. Headaches again? I’m so sorry to hear that Jennette. That in itself can limit our productivity. But the freezer is clean! lol! And I like that book-cover! I hope you get to feeling better girl. Have a great week! 🙂

  11. I’m having one of those weeks right now! I promised not to write this week to get caught up on other things, but something else always happens to prevent me from getting my to-do-list done! With the kids out of school, time is not my own…

  12. Very sorry to hear about the headaches, Jennette. Been there and it’s just not fun. Hopefully once you’ve cleared some more things off your mental plate you will notice them fading some. Until then, gentle hugs and a cup of warm Chair Rooibos tea (no caffeine to add to any migraines!)

And yes… I’ve definitely had those weeks. And yet… it’s surprising how much we get done when we look back. Just as long as we don’t stop.
