Catching Up

I am overwhelmed. First of all, by the wonderful outpouring of support from my blog readers who stopped by and commented while I was in France and away from Internet. Thank you! Your support and comments mean so much to me. And thanks again to Michele Stegman for a wonderful guest post last Thursday, as well as to all of our friends who stopped by.

It’s amazing how a little thing like a vacation can throw us off. I am, by necessity, a very routine-oriented person. Workouts, writing, blog posts, blog visits and comments, housework – none of that would get done consistently or well without my routines. It was nice to get away from the madness into a different kind of madness (I was with a tour group, and there was a lot of “hurry up and wait”), but it’s good to be back home. It’s going to take me a few days to get around to all the blogs I missed, and to get back on Facebook and Twitter. It took a good several hours to go through email, and that’s with going no-mail on most of my Yahoo groups. I also have a web design job to finish this weekend – good thing my workweek is short this week! Oh, and that’s not even counting any real writing. I’m not going to push that until next week.

What about you? Do you have trouble getting back into a routine after a little time off – even if it’s something planned and positive? Any advice for me?

Please know that I appreciate every comment, tweet and Facebook share! If you comment on my blog, I’ll return the favor – only now, it might take me a few days to get caught up. And I will share a little bit about my trip. Thanks so much for your support!

  1. Can’t wait to hear about your trip. welcome home, my friend. I missed you. I am reading time’s Enemy and had to force myself to put it down to read email. then i saw this post. yahoo.

  2. Yes, indeed! Glad you’re back. I went away for a few days for church camp and had 133 blog posts in my to-be-read queue when I returned. Since I knew there were some fabulous gems in there, I refused to simply dump the whole lot of them. It took me a week to catch up.

Hope you had a lovely time in France! I’m a little jealous but happy that you got to go!

  3. Welcome back! I can’t wait to see your post on France. I hope to go someday. Someday…I say take your time getting back in the groove. Make sure your head is in the right place. Otherwise you may burn yourself out in another way. Missed you. 🙂

  4. LOL Julie! Sounds like my Google Reader about now. And I’m the same way! Have to at least skim ’em all. Thanks for stopping by – both now and while I was away!

Thanks, Debra! I sometimes have to tell myself that everything doesn’t have to be done now. Thanks for the reminder!

  5. Welcome back, Jennette! I can’t wait to hear about your trip. 🙂 I find getting back into the routine is dependent on how tired I am. You’re probably feeling the effects of Jerald, so give yourself time to rest.

  6. Welcome back, Jennette! It’s always hard to get back in the swing of things after being away. Don’t stress yourself too much over it. Hopefully you found some great stories in France 🙂

  7. Welcome back, Jennette. I hear you about getting back into routines. It takes me a couple of days to go through my bedbug paranoia steps to to make sure we didn’t bring any unwanted travelers home with us. I NEVER want those things in my house! Then there’s the restocking of the fridge, as I never leave perishable when we travel, and all that laundry to do. The prep to leave and coming back is a big time sucker whenever we travel. But it’s worth it to see the world–or at least the USA, in our case.

Can’t wait to see your France blog!

  8. Thanks, Lynn! Routine? LOL! I get nothing done without one!

Sheila – I was definitely tired! Still am, a week later. Thanks for stopping by!

CC, thanks so much! Hope you like it!

Debra, don’t know if I found much, story-wise, but it was fun!

Catherine, I don’t think we brought any stowaways home – ugh! We have enough of those here in Ohio already! And you are so right, the prep before and stuff that needs done after has been a huge time suck.

Pat, I don’t think my trip was as exciting as yours, but it was still good. Planning to blog a bit of it on Thursday. Thanks for the warm welcome!
